Lithology and Thickness

Shallow-marine marl. They are represented by marls with a thickness of 6 m, having basal conglomerates at the base.

Lower contact

The marls lie with a cold contact on the Paleozoic granitoids.

Upper contact

Sandstones and conglomerates

Regional extent

The oldest are the Turonian deposits, known only near the village of Shaidan. In the Karamazar district, Upper Cretaceous deposits are encountered sporadically at individual points, poorly studied. Upper Cretaceous deposits are distinguished in the Karamazar, Turkestan, Zarafshan-Gissar, Karategin, Zaalay, Darvaz, Sarykol, and the Central Pamir regions.

Fossils

In them, (Poyarkova, 1969) Upper Turonian Liostrea delettrei Coq., Exogyra turkestanensis Born., Tylostoma globosus Sharpe, and others have been found.
